Sink or swim - the wait for phantom funding and other avenues

I am a fairly patient person, but lately my patience is wearing thin. As the seventh week of a twelve week semester thunders forward with crushing momentum, I am still waiting for my OSAP loan to be processed.
Until it arrives, I have no clue as to how I am going to pay for next semester's tuition. As it stands right now I am not just waiting for funding, I am waiting to find out if I even qualify for funding. I am in the worst kind of limbo.
I can get by on my wages from my part time job, but it is not enough to keep me in school.

Did the University prepare for the increased demand for OSAP funding this year? No. The key reasons that I am still waiting for funding is that while demand for financial assistance rose by approximately 20% this year at Wilfrid Laurier, the amount of staff in the OSAP office remained constant. As far as the school's OSAP office is concerned, I am a file folder, sitting in an extremely large stack of other file folders, waiting to be adressed. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting some more.

One of the greatest things about living is that you never really know what is going to happen, that is why life is frequently referred to as an adventure. That being said, I am extremely tired of adventuring through my finances. All I can do is wait, and that isn't good enough for me.

In desperation I have begun turning to scholarships and bursaries, though the application process is long and arduous. Websites such as Studentsawards.com and the schools financial assitance page (found on WLU.ca) offer applications for scholarships, though as with anything in life, the resposibility to for action lies with the student. As true today as ever before, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
